C-Centre, Hong Kong, China
Located at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the C-Centre (the Centre for Chinese Media and Comparative Communication Research) facilitates frontline research on media, especially digital media, in Greater China, understood from regional and global comparative perspectives. It functions as a key hub of intellectual exchange through conferences, training workshops, funded research, academic publishing, and policy intervention.
As a Founding Member of the Consortium, the C-Centre has helped translating Scholz’s “Platform Cooperativism” article into Chinese (both traditional and simplified characters), and it will:
- Spearhead research activities on the dynamics of digital sharing economy in China and Southeast Asia, especially with regard to ride-hailing and online labor platforms;
- Study co-ops and social economy groups in Hong Kong while connecting them with members of the Consortium; and
- Host events with local, regional, and global partners in promoting digital commons, through evidence-based research findings and public policy advocacy.
