I am a professor at the School of Journalism and Communication, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, where I serve as the deputy director of the C-Centre and associate director of the Centre for Social Innovation Studies. I will contribute to the Consortium by serving as a node in Hong Kong when forthcoming events are planned in the region. My current work examines (a) historical connections between labor resistence to digital exploitation in the 21st century and progressive socio-political and economic movements in the past, (b) cultural formations of Chinese migrant workers, their families and communities, via digital platforms, and (c) the materialization of alternative platforms, including co-ops, in Hong Kong, China, and Southeast Asia.
You may check out my new book Goodbye iSlave: A Manifesto for Digital Abolition for my recent projects and thoughts.
