Raz Godelnik (Parsons School of Design – The New School)
I’m an Assistant Professor and the Co-Director of the MS in Strategic Design & Management at Parsons School of Design- The New School. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in innovation, leadership, the sharing economy, sustainability and strategic design. My research interests include the convergence of innovation, sustainability, business and design strategies, the sharing economy, resilience, and new business models. Currently I’m involved in projects focusing on the impact of the sharing economy on traditional business, the relationship between sharing economy and resilience, the future of design thinking, and the willingness of Millennials to integrate sustainability into their lifestyle.
I plan to contribute to the to the Consortium through my work on the relationship between the sharing economy and resilience and the use of design intelligence (a more holistic and systemic approach, fusing design thinking with economic rationality, business logic, and organizational reality, and emphasizing realignment of all the parts of the organization, not just its innovation processes) to move the needle in business. Currently, I work on developing a sharing economy business model optimized for resilience that could also be used by platform cooperatives, as well as an effective resilience assessment framework that can serve both organizations and cities in understanding the impact of sharing economy platforms on the city’s resilience.
I also look forward to contributing to the efforts to create a MOOC about the platform cooperativism economy.
